Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Grandi Annate DOCG 2011
This selection of Sangiovese is medium ruby red color. The array bouquet opens with scents of camellias and wild roses at the beginnig but then notes of black currant and red plums comes... The Grandi Annate is well-balanced and round thanks to the concentration and the structure of the soil. The tannins are firm but silky, and the fruity, elegant mid-palate leads towards a long finish reminiscent of cedar. An absolutely outstanding Montepulciano!
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG
Vineyards of la Badella and la Banditella, 270-350 meters. The soil is a deep Pliocene sedimentation with a matrix of Vertisol clay and silt.
18 months in French Barriques. Best from 2017 through 2025.

Food Pairing Notes
Grandi Annate has the body to complement lamb but it perfectly accents all herthy flavors. Due to the long history of shepherding in Abruzzo and Molise, lamb dishes are common. Lamb is often used with pasta, combined with wild mushrooms, rosemary, and garlic. Aromatic cheeses and risotto, also a must!
