Aromas suggesting mature plum, a classically expressive mix of strawberry, scorched earth, clove, menthol and a hint of iris lead the nose. The ripe, one-dimensional palate offers rich and silky textures in an elegant expression of palate-coating cherry, spice, dried fruits and cooking spice alongside fine-grained but not very persistent tannins. A bump of acidity cleanses the senses, making way for its slightly tannic finish with notes of strawberry and leather. This Brunelllo di Montalcino displays deep ruby red with garnet tinges that intensify with ageing. The wine exudes earthy and fruity aromas with bright raspberry and cherry notes accompanied with hints of spice, leather and minerality. Well-balanced with bright fruit and integrated tannin, this wine can be enjoyed now or laid down for aging. Belpoggio is a property of 10 hectares of vines which 5 (100% Sangiovese) and the other consisting of an ancient olive grove, located just 500 meters from the Abbey of Sant’Antimo with an extraordinary view over the Val d’Orcia. The old mansion has been restored with architectural precision, while the winery has been completely renovated and adapted with the most modern winemaking. Particular attention was paid to the area of aging.
