Le Marsure Altajo IGT 2012
Refosco is the only grape that can achieve relatively dark color in the short growing season of Friuli Venezia Giulia, which is why it is held in such favor here. Even the word, Refosco, translates loosely to dark grape. Unlike other areas, it is the Merlot and Cabernet that contribute the delicacy instead of the power. Medium magenta in color, on the nose, scents of plum and hints of spice. Full-bodied taste and harmonious on the palate with hints of blackberry and a long finish. Deep ruby red tending to purple, if aged garnet. On the nose, strong, intense, pleasant characteristic of ripe fruit. Well balanced, international character, with soft and ripe tannins.
40% Refosco, 40% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
